Two members of TxACOM were each awarded a $500 scholarships at the Presidential Gala, held on April 17th at the Cendera Center in Fort Worth Texas. Jennifer Smith, CTA, Convention Services Coordinator at Arlington CVB and Mary Ellen Miller, both are using their funds to further their education in our industry.

Contributions from the silent auction at the Presidential Gala and the quarterly luncheons are used to support this member benefit. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a very successful year so that we could award two scholarships. Featured speaker, Mary German, CMP

gave a great performance to a welcoming audience at the Presidential Gala. Mary German, CMP, Vice President, Bureau Services & Programs, Arlington CVB was the keynote speaker at the annual Presidential Gala.  As a former TxACOM President, her topic , "Leadership - Learning from the Past, Living in the Present and Building for the Future" was a great segue to the direction that TxACOM is moving.  Mary also did the installation of the new board of directors.

Lura Hammond, President for the past two years, gave a brief overview of the many accomplishments and achievements of the past year.  "There were many significant changes," remarked Lura.  "The major ones were reorganizational structure of operations that reflect a team working system, and a new website.  We now have divisions where 3 or more board members work together to provide services for our members.  It also establishes a strong succession plan.  The new TxACOM logo and name changes that incorporate "alliance" speaks highly of our effort to be inclusive of all industry representatives."

"One of the greatest highlights for me this year was the extra effort displayed by the board members. All the changes and improvements could not have happened without the commitment and deduction of these wonderful people. They truly  give to TxACOM with their time, talent and treasurer," added Lura

The evening event included Welcome Reception, Silent Auction, Dinner, Dancing, and Casino fun.  Thank you to our sponsors:
